A fluent Spanish speaker, Romina has presented at dozens of conferences and festivals in both the United States and abroad. She has been interviewed live on CBS News and La Nación, Buenos Aires' major daily newspaper, which featured her on its weekly live talk show, "La Conversación." In the fall of 2025, Romina participated in the Women's March "Reading the Revolution" talk alongside author Tomi Adeyemi. In March of 2026, she was honored as the featured author for Read Brave, Saint Paul's citywide book club hosted by the mayor and the public library system—an initiative that included 8 school visits, a citywide address, and the distribution of thousands of copies of Lobizona to the community. Most recently, Romina was invited to speak with students and faculty on the University of Pennsylvania campus about the intersection of current events and the themes of Lobizona.

Not all great writers are also great speakers, but Romina is. She radiates warmth and approachability, and I was so impressed by her ability to speak on nuanced and charged topics to a diverse college audience with a mix of sharp analysis, grounding humor, and emotional honesty. Her book talk was many participants’ favorite Penn event of the year.

I walked away from the event feeling inspired by Garber’s work, specifically her ability to leverage creativity as a means for education, empowerment, and connection. Through attending the book talk, I learned that creating meaningful dialogue means cultivating spaces with care.
